As the second half of the season begins Clifton welcomed visitors Golborne to Manchester road where for one of the first times this season rain was around. Liam won the toss and put Golborne in to bat.
The usual pair Rob and Tom opened the bowling but it wasn’t their day as one of the openers begin to settle Liam knew he had to make changes. Dan and Lewis came on to replace them and Lewis broke the opening stand worth 34 however the settled opener was still batting nicely. Liam then brought himself on to bowl and used his experience excellently getting the big wicket and picking up his 2nd just 2 balls later.
Dan jones then picked up a wicket before Liam got his 3rd wicket leaving the visitors at 89-5. Ethan than bowled tightly and got himself on the board taking 2 wickets for just 5 runs from his 5 overs. The captain then led by example taking another 2 more to get his 5fer and Clifton needed one more wicket to bowl visitors out. This happened shortly later when a nice bit of fielding by Lewis caused a run out and Clifton were set a target off 116.
The chase didn’t start great with Steve (9) and Dan (3) fell early but a solid 23 from Ethan Kite helped the home side rebuild up to 45-3. A steady partnership by Sam and Steve judge was brought to and end when Judgey fell for 16. Owen joined Sam in the middle and had a partnership of 38 before Sam had to go for a gritty 25.
Lewis (4*)then helped sail the ship home with Owen (15*) and keep the unbeaten run going.
